Stop 26: Hinkle’s Ford

[Waypoint 39.039962 -94.519950]

This tour stop is located just north of where Brush Creek flows into the Blue River. Although it involves a little bit of walking on a paved trail, you can also get to the west side of the river via the Blue River and Brush Creek Trails [Alternate Waypoint 39.039270 -94.521481]. Some historians believe Lt. Col. Alonzo W. Slayback used Hinkle’s Ford to cross the river in order to flank Col. Charles R. Jennison’s position at Byram’s Ford.
