Stop 59: Boston Adams House

[Waypoint 39.011083 -94.542690]

This tour stop is a historical marker located about one block south of the intersection of E. 63rd Street and Swope Parkway. After the Confederates gained control of Byram’s Ford on Saturday afternoon, October 22, Confederate Maj. Gen. Sterling Price decided to establish his field headquarters in the spacious Boston Adams House. The marker says the Boston Adams House was located near here. But based on his thorough analysis of Jackson County Public Records and first-person accounts, Daniel L. Smith believes the Boston Adams House [Waypoint 39.004840 -94.547264] was located near the intersection of Indiana Avenue and E. 67th Street.
