You are near the northern boundary of Pea Ridge National Military Park.

Description: Confederate Major General Earl Van Dorn had stayed with Major General Sterling Price who was in command of the left wing of the Southern army as they continued following the Bentonville Detour around the north of Elkhorn (also called Big) Mountain. They had reached the Wire Road about 2 miles north of this location around 10:00 A.M. on the morning of March 7th. Continuing south on the Wire Road, the advance units of the Confederates would encounter Union Major Weston's forces near the Tanyard.
