This tour stop marks the location of possible entrenchments used by the Confederates on October 23. These earthworks were actually constructed by Kansas State Militia from the Department of Kansas and used by Jennison’s Brigade on October 22. You are standing near the Confederate left flank. This is also tour stop #12 from the original Big Blue Battlefield Walking Tour.
The tour is over. It’s now time to return to your car. Walk east down 59th Street and cross over the railroad tracks. Immediately after crossing the tracks, you will be walking by a vacant lot. This is part of the Big Blue Battlefield and is in the process of being re-stored to 1864 battlefield conditions. Take the next right on Den-ver Avenue and continue one block to 60th Street. You should now be able to see your car. We certainly hope you enjoyed this tour!
