Stop 20: Fighting Ends, 10:30 p.m., October 22

This tour stop is located at the intersection of E. 55th Street and Byram’s Ford Road. As you travel to this tour stop, remember you are following the general route of the Historic Byram’s Ford Road. Nearby is the Rice Cemetery [Way-point 39.019440 -94.495622] where Ben and Jane Rice are buried. Benjamin Rice and his brother-in-law, John Cox, owned a couple of farms on the east side of the Big Blue River at Byram’s Ford. The fighting on October 22 between Col. Edward F. Winslow’s brigade and the Confederate rear guard ended near this location.
