Stop 16: Confederate Line October 22, 1864

[Waypoint 39.091294 -94.427251]

This tour stop is a historical marker located near the intersection of W. Lexington Avenue and S. River Boulevard, just west of The Community of Christ Temple. You are standing on what was, in 1864, the outskirts of Independence on the main road, Lexington Street, leading southwest out of town. The Confederate rearguard used this road as they retreated.
